Privacy Policy
1. Introduction and Overview
1.1 Purpose of the Policy
This Privacy Policy (hereinafter referred to as “This Policy”) is designed to explain to you how the PicoWatch video playback application (hereinafter referred to as “This Application” or “PicoWatch”) collects, uses, stores, shares, transfers across borders, and protects your personal information, as well as your rights and applicable choices regarding your information. We are well aware of the importance of personal information to you and will treat your information security and privacy interests with high discretion.
1.2 Applicability Scope
This policy applies to you accessing and using all product features and services provided by PicoWatch via mobile devices, tablets or other compatible terminals, including but not limited to functional modules such as local video import, multi-format HD playback, playback progress memory, playlist management, playback speed adjustment, caption loading, and video library organization.
1.3 Policy Confirmation and Consent
Be sure to carefully read and fully understand the full content of this Policy before you first launch this App or use any of its core features. Once you begin using this App, you have read, understood, and agreed to accept the constraints of this Policy. If you do not agree to any of the terms of this Policy, please immediately stop downloading, installing, or using this App.
1.4 International Compliance Position
This App is aimed at providing services to users worldwide, and we are committed to following applicable data protection laws and regulations and international common privacy practices, including but not limited to the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK’s Data Protection Act (UK DPA), the US California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), and other applicable jurisdiction’s data protection requirements.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information you voluntarily provide
2.1.1 Local Video Files
When you select and import a video file (such as MP4, MKV, AVI, MOV, FLV, etc.) into your device through the System File Manager, that file is read and loaded into the video library of this application. We access the relevant video content only after you actively choose to import, and we do not scan or upload all media files from your device without your action.
2.1.2 Video Metadata and Playback Preferences
This app can read basic metadata about a video file, such as filename, duration, resolution, encoding format, audio track information, and file size, to present clear list information to you in the video library. Favorite markers, playlist classifications, rename actions, and subtitle choices you set for videos are all saved locally.
2.1.3 Playback Progress and History
When you watch a video, this app locally records your playback progress, recent viewing time, last playback location, and playback speed preferences so you can quickly resume playback the next time you open it. This type of playback history data is only stored locally on your device and is not uploaded to our servers.
2.2.1 Device and Log Information
To ensure stable application operation and troubleshooting, we may automatically collect a limited number of device and usage log information, including device model, operating system version, application version number, crash logs, application runtime duration, feature click events, and failure stack information. This information is used to diagnose technical issues, optimize the product experience, and is not directly associated with your identity.
2.2.2 Performance and Diagnostic Data
We may collect aggregated application performance metrics such as video decoding success rate, playback stutter frequency, audio-video synchronization bias, caption loading time, double-speed switching response time, and other statistics to continuously improve the playback experience and product performance.
2.3 Information We Do Not Collect
This App does not require you to register an account or provide an identity ID such as your real name, mobile phone number, email address, etc. to use all core functions. Unless you actively communicate with us through your contact email address, we will not actively obtain your identity information. We also do not collect device contacts, SMS messages, precise location information, or photo library content that is not related to video playback functions.
3.1 Providing Core Functional Services
We use your video files, metadata, and playback progress information to enable core functions such as local video import, multi-format HD decoding playback, playback history and continuation, playlist creation and management (renaming, deleting, adding), playback speed adjustment, caption loading, sequential or random playback, and video library organization. All of these processing activities are performed locally on your device.
3.2 Improving the Product and User Experience
Based on aggregated, deidentified performance and log data, we analyze high-frequency feature usage, common fault points, decoding performance of video in different formats, caption compatibility, and playback performance bottlenecks to optimize interface interactions, improve decoding smoothness, fix known flaws, and extend supported video and caption formats.
3.3 Ensuring Security and Compliance Operations
We may use log information to monitor malicious behavior, abuse, and technical security threats to ensure the security and reliability of the application ecosystem. Such use is strictly limited to security protection purposes and will not be used to build user profiles or deliver personalized ads.
3.4 Legal Base
In jurisdictions where applicable data protection laws require us to provide legal grounds, the grounds for our processing of the above information include: fulfilling the service contract with you (providing video playback and management functions), our legitimate interests (assuring application security and improving products), fulfilling legal obligations, and obtaining your explicit consent where applicable.
4.1 Local Storage Technologies
This app may use device-local storage mechanisms (such as app sandboxes, preference files, cache directories) to save your playback preferences, playlist configurations, recent viewing history, and interface settings while running. This data is stored locally on your device, which you can delete at any time through in-app settings or system settings.
4.2 No Tracking Class Cookies
We do not use cross-app or cross-site tracking cookies, fingerprint recognition technologies, or advertising identifiers to build your user profile or track cross-app behavior. This app does not transmit your personal behavioral data to third-party advertising networks.
4.3 Analytics SDK
If we access rigorously evaluated third-party crash reporting or performance monitoring SDKs, these SDKs collect only de-identified device models, OS versions, crash stacks, and performance metrics, not your video content, identity information, or exact location. You can terminate this collection by uninstalling or clearing application data.
5.1 Local Processing Principles
PicoWatch was designed to follow the principle of “data localization”. By default, your imported video files, playback progress, playlists, favorites, subtitle preferences, and video library data are only stored locally on your device and will not be uploaded to our remote servers without your active action.
5.2 Do not sell to third parties
We will not sell, rent or transact your personal information or video content in any form to any third party for their own independent commercial marketing purposes.
5.3 Limited Service Provider Sharing
We may transmit de-identified diagnostic data to strictly evaluated third-party technical service providers only when necessary for implementing technical services such as application crash reporting, performance monitoring, etc. Such providers may only process the data as directed by us, assume confidentiality and security obligations no less than required by this Policy, and may not use the data for their own purposes.
5.4 Disclosure as required by law
In the following circumstances, we may believe in good faith that it is necessary to disclose relevant information: (1) to comply with mandatory requirements of applicable laws, regulations, legal procedures, or governmental authorities; (2) to enforce the terms of this policy or service agreement; (3) to respond to claims of infringement of rights, property, or security against this application or other users; and (4) to prevent immediate personal harm or illegal activities facing us, our users, or the public.
5.5 Business Transfer
If this App involves a transaction such as a merger, acquisition, asset restructuring, or bankruptcy settlement, the relevant user information may be transferred as part of the transaction assets. We will notify you of the transfer through in-app notification or significant notice prior to the transfer, and apply the new subject’s privacy policy.
6.1 Security Measures
We adopt industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, use, disclosure, modification, or destruction, including but not limited to: encrypted channels for data transfer links, secure storage of sensitive data locally, application principles of minimum application permissions, and strict internal access controls.
6.2 Minimizing Permissions
This application requests only the system permissions necessary to implement the functionality. For example, when importing videos, obtain individual file access permissions through the system file selector instead of reading the entire media library at once; when loading subtitles, read only the corresponding subtitle file when you actively select it. You can view and revoke granted permissions at any time through your device’s system settings.
6.3 Security Incident Response
Although we take reasonable and feasible measures to protect your information, please understand that no electronic storage or transmission method can be guaranteed to be 100 percent secure. In the event of a data breach, security vulnerability, or accidental disclosure involving your personal information, we will initiate a response process within the time limits required by law and inform you via in-app notification or email about the nature of the incident, its possible impact, and the response measures taken.
7.1 Local Data Retention
Your video file references, playback progress, playlists, favorite recordings, subtitle preferences, and video library metadata are all kept locally on your device for the amount of time you determine. These data will remain on your device as long as you don’t delete the related recordings or uninstall this app.
7.2 Diagnostic Data Retention
Deidentified crash logs and performance statistics are retained only for the reasonable period necessary to achieve diagnostic and improvement purposes, usually no more than twelve months, after which they are automatically deleted or irreversibly anonymized.
7.3 Your right to delete
You can rename or remove videos from the video library at any time within the app; touch and hold the playlist to delete or edit the list; and you can also clear playback progress for individual videos. Uninstalling this app also deletes all playback history and preferences stored in the app’s private directory. Note that removing videos from the video library does not automatically delete the original video files on the device.
7.4 Account Logout
Since this application does not require an account to register, you do not need an additional sign-out process. If you need to completely clear all data related to the application, simply delete the application and clear its cache.
8.1 Access and Correction
You have access to all video lists, playback progress, playlists, favorites, and subtitle preferences saved in the app, and can edit and correct video names, playlist names, subtitle selection, and classification at any time. All edits take effect locally and immediately.
8.2 Deletion and Restriction Processing
You have the right to delete any playback history, playlists, subtitle associations or video library entries, and to clear all continuation progress. To the extent permitted by law, you can also request to restrict our further processing of your de-identified diagnostic data.
8.3 Portability of Data
Your video files themselves are stored on your local device in a generic format, and you can freely manage your playlists and favorite information. You can access, back up, or transfer video and caption files at any time through the System File Manager, without our additional restrictions.
8.4 Denial and Revocation of Consent
If certain features depend on your specific rights or consent to operate, you have the right to refuse or withdraw that consent at any time. The withdrawal of consent does not affect the legality of processing activities that were initiated based on consent prior to the withdrawal, but may result in the proper use of the corresponding features not being possible.
8.5 Complaints and Claims
If you believe that our processing of your personal information violates applicable data protection laws or the terms of this Policy, you have the right to file a complaint or complaint with the data protection regulator in your jurisdiction.
9.1 Data Localization Priority
As previously mentioned, the core video content and playback data of this application are processed and stored locally on your device, without cross-border transmission. Cross-border processing of de-identified technical data may be involved only in extremely limited diagnostic and crash reporting scenarios.
9.2 Transfer Assurance Measures
If any de-identified diagnostic data is indeed needed to be transmitted across borders, we will take the necessary safeguards in accordance with applicable law, including but not limited to: the use of approved Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs), ensuring that the recipient has the same level of data protection, the adoption of encrypted transmission and anonymization, and the transmission of only the minimum amount of data necessary to achieve the purpose.
9.3 Your Choice
You can completely avoid any possible cross-border data processing by not granting appropriate permissions, not enabling diagnostic data upload, or uninstalling this application. We will not transfer your video content, playback history, or personally identifiable information to overseas servers.
10.1 Policy Revisions
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in product functionality, legal and regulatory changes, or internal practices optimizations. For major revisions, we will notify you in advance through in-app salient notifications or pop-ups. The updated policy becomes effective from the date of publication, and your continued use of this App is considered to accept the revised policy.
10.2 Historical Versions
The most recent effective date is marked at the top of this policy or at the contact entry. You can view the full content of the current effective version of the policy at any time through the settings page of this application.
